Singaporean based furniture company, ipse ipsa ipsum bring their unique design aesthetics and rich heritage of traditional craftsmanship to London Design Week in their UK debut. Showcasing at 100% Design, the full collection can be found at stand: L620
First launched in 2016, ipse ipsa ipsum was born out of a desire to create handcrafted furniture and accessories that are luxurious yet accessible. The debut collection, by Singaporean designer Nathan Yong, features a wide range of furniture and lifestyle accessories, from dining tables and sofas to candle holders and fruit bowls.
Combining luxurious natural materials with subtle design references from a rich culture, the collection focuses on unusual and exquisite detail. Using materials such as marble, solid brass and leather creates not only a visually arresting collection but one with an overwhelmingly tactile quality.
The collection also offers a number of innovative customisation options that seamlessly blends the beautiful with the functional. The Udaipur Sofa can have an added laptop table, reading light and side table all in one eye catching modular design.
The multifunctional aspects of pieces, such as the Sangli Mirror, highlight the collections versatility and subtle element of surprise. A free standing mirror, ideal for hallways or bedrooms, it conceals shelfs on the reverse that can store bags, shoes or books.
“It takes an ordinary person to do extraordinary things because we are capable of doing so much more than we think. From product design and development to the retail environment, we want to fire up our imagination and present customers with choices to make living exceptional,” explains Mr Saurabh Mangla, Creative Head of ipse ipsa ipsum.
Designed in collaboration with designer Nathan Yong, the eponymous collection aims to redefine living by enabling ordinary people to experience an extraordinary way of life. Yong’s design philosophy of evoking a sense of wonder to those who observe his design is aligned with ipse ipsa ipsum’s own philosophy of creating products that contain elements of surprise and nostalgia.
